Research Areas

SCS invites the research community to submit proposals addressing the following areas. Proposals should be relevant to SCS services and programmes, spanning cancer prevention and screening, psychosocial support, survivorship support, cancer rehabilitation, and palliative care.
Please note that proposals focused on basic science research will not be considered for funding.

Cancer Prevention and Screening

Example of topics: Cancer risk factors, nutrition and dietetics, development and evaluation of screening tests, cost-effectiveness analysis of screening programmes.

SCS Research Interest: Overcoming cancer screening deterrence among vulnerable, minority and at-risk populations.

Health Services Research

Example of topics: Identifying critical gaps in evaluating and improving the quality of cancer care.

SCS Research Interest: Improving the user experience of cancer care from screening to survivorship, and evaluating the cost-benefits of cancer navigation and peer support programmes.

Cancer Care, Survivorship & Support

Example of topics: Cancer patient support programmes, cancer rehabilitation, effects of cancer on patients, families and caregivers, communication strategies for conveying information to patients and caregivers.

SCS Research Interest: Community-based rehabilitation for cancer patients, and meeting the needs of adolescents and young adults with cancer.

Palliative Care

Example of topics: Behavioural and psychological supportive care, symptom management.

SCS Research Interest: Enhancing quality of life for cancer patients, survivors and caregivers.
