Race Against Cancer Runners
Ladies and gentlemen
Good morning!
Welcome to the Singtel-Singapore Cancer Society Race Against Cancer (RAC). Thank you all for taking the time to be here today. Unfortunately, due to unforeseen circumstances, our Guest of Honour, Minister Chee Hong Tat
is unable to join us today. He expresses his deepest apologies for his absence, and wishes the Singapore Cancer Society, participants, volunteers, partners every success in the race to save lives. Thank you, Minister Chee
Since its inception in 2009, SCS has worked closely with Singtel to grow RAC into one of Singapore’s longest-running charity race. This year, the 16th year, is extra special as it is held in the year of SCS 60th Anniversary in cancer care and prevention.
And we have a attracted a record number of people this year, more than 7500 participants, volunteers, partners, Singtel staff and SCS staff across both physical and virtual race categories.
RAC’s success is a testament to the incredible support it has garnered from thousands of passionate runners and cancer advocates. Thank you for your amazing support of the cancer cause.
Finally, two things to watch out for today’s run
First, we are joined by an exceptional team of over 50 cancer patients and survivors who are actively engaged in various SCS support groups, rehab programmes, and welfare services. These resilient individuals are taking on the 5km run with courage and determination. Please encourage them when you see them on the run. For now, let us show our appreciation for their inspiring journey with a big round of applause. Second, in celebration of SCS 60th anniversary, we have a special category – the 2KM Parent-Child run. This category aims to teach and empower children to join the fight against cancer so that we can ultimately eradicate the disease that remains the leading cause of death in Singapore. So, if you happen to see any of our junior runners, please encourage them too! Have a good race this morning!
Thank you.
