When cancer enters your life, it can feel overwhelming and uncertain.

At Singapore Cancer Society (SCS), we walk alongside cancer patients and their families at every stage of the journey. We offer a range of financial assistance schemes to help ease the cost of cancer treatment for Singaporeans and Permanent Residents from low- and middle-income families

Our support is available from the moment of diagnosis, through treatment, and into life after treatment and beyond. If you or your loved one is facing cancer, there are avenues of support available. Explore our assistance schemes below to find out how we can help.

Cancer Care Fund

A new cancer diagnosis can be overwhelming, and financial worries should not stand in the way of getting timely treatment. The Cancer Care Fund provides a one-time financial assistance to help ease the cost of treatment for newly diagnosed cancer patients from low- or middle-income families, within the first 6 months of diagnosis.

Who Is Eligible?

You may apply for the Cancer Care Fund if you:

  • Are a Singaporean or Permanent Resident
    • Exceptions may be considered for non-residents whose parents, spouse, or children are Singaporeans or Permanent Residents, and who have been living in Singapore continuously for at least 5 years
  • Have been newly diagnosed with cancer, within 6 months from the date of diagnosis
  • Meet the income criteria under the Blue or Orange Community Health Assist Scheme (CHAS)

Documents You Will Need

Please prepare the following document for your application:

  • NRIC
  • Completed and signed application forms
  • CHAS card (Blue or Orange only), OR Public Assistance Card, OR Special Grant Card
  • For Permanent Residents and non-residents without CHAS: completed income declaration form
  • Medical memo or certificate clearly stating the date of cancer diagnosis (where appropriate)
  • Applicant’s bank book or bank statement (for GIRO payment)

What Support Can I Receive?

Blue Health Assist card holders with a per capita monthly income of less than $1,500 will receive $1,000.

Orange Health Assist card holders with a per capital monthly income of less than $2,300 but more than $1,500 will receive $500.

How to Apply

  2. Approach your doctor or medical social worker to help you complete the relevant sections.
  3. Submit the completed forms and supporting documents via email to welfare@singaporecancersociety.org.sg.

Cancer Treatment Fund

This support is designed to help ease the financial burden of ongoing cancer treatment, so that you can focus more fully on your care and recovery.

Who Is Eligible?

You may be eligable for the Cancer Treatment Fund if you:

  • Are a Singaporean or Permanent Resident
    • Exceptions may be considered for non-residents whose parents, spouse, or children are Singaporeans or Permanent Residents, and who have been living in Singapore continuously for at least 5 years
  • Are a subsidised patient in a restructured hospital in Singapore
  • Meet the medical and means-test criteria administered by SCS

Documents You Will Need

  • Copy of NRIC (front and back) of patient and immediate family members staying in the same household
  • The most recent:
    • bank statement or passbook entry; and
    • payslip or income tax assessment form; and
    • 15 month CPF transaction history statement; and
    • Cash investment Statement (if applicable)
  • Patient referral form and medical report(s) (i.e. scan report(s), blood test report(s) and/or histopathology report(s)) provided by treating physician
  • MediFund certificate (if applicable) 

What Support Can I Receive?

If your application is successful, you may receive:

  • Subsidies for approved cancer drug(s) or treatment(s) of up to 100% of the cost or $6,000 per cycle/month, whichever is lower
  • A total subsidy of up to $50,000 per person

Welfare Aid Fund

Living with cancer can come with many unexpected costs beyond treatment. The Welfare Aid Fund provides temporary financial assistance and/or essential medical supplies to support the well-being of cancer patients in need.

Medical supplies may include:

  • Nutritional milk feeds
  • Diapers
  • Medical dressings
  • Stoma bags
  • Other prescribed medical consumables

This support helps to reduce the financial strain that patients and their families may experience due to unemployment, loss of income, or high treatment-related expenses. Applications are usually supported and submitted through healthcare professionals or medical social workers from hospitals, hospices, and voluntary welfare organisations in Singapore.

Who Is Eligible?

You may be eligable for the Welfare Aid Fund if you:

  • Are a Singaporean or Permanent Resident
    • Exceptions may be considered for non-residents whose parents, spouse, or children are Singaporeans or Permanent Residents, and who have been living in Singapore continuously for at least 5 years
  • Have a per capita household income of less than $1,500
  • Have limited household savings within your immediate family
  • Meet the means-test criteria administered by Singapore Cancer Society (SCS)

Documents You Will Need

Please prepare copies of the following documents for the patient and immediate family members living in the same household:

  • NRIC (front and back)
  • Most recent:
    • Bank statement or passbook entry; and
    • Payslip or income tax assessment form; and
    • 15 months CPF transaction history statement; and
    • Cash investment statement (if applicable)
  • Medical memo* or certificate
  • Documents showing assistance received from other organisations (if any)
* The medical memo for medical supplies will need to be completed by the relevant medical professionals, as follows:
  • Milk feed – recommended by Dietitian
  • Ostomy appliances – recommended by Stoma Nurse
  • Other medical supplies (e.g. wound dressing, diapers, etc.) – recommended by Doctor or Nurse

What Support Can I Receive?

The amount and type of assistance provided will depend on your healthcare needs and financial circumstances.

Support may include:

  • Financial assistance to help with daily living or care-related expenses
  • Provision of medically required supplies such as milk feeds, ostomy appliances, wound dressings, diapers, and other prescribed items

Each application is assessed individually so that support can be tailored to your specific situation.

  1. Approach your doctor or medical social worker to discuss your situation and request assistance under the Welfare Aid Fund.
  2. Your healthcare professional or medical social worker will help you complete the application forms and collate the required documents.
  3. The completed forms and supporting documents should be submitted via email to welfare@singaporecancersociety.org.sg.
