When cancer affects a family, children often feel its impact too — emotionally, financially, and academically. Singapore Cancer Society (SCS) supports school-going children from families impacted by cancer, helping them stay focused on their education and future.
We offer two programmes that support different needs — financial assistance for school expenses, and academic and psychosocial support for children whose parents have been diagnosed with cancer.
EFAS and HCYP serve different purposes and require separate applications. Families may apply for one or both programmes depending on their needs and eligibility.
Financial support to help ease school-related expenses so that your child can continue learning with stability and reassurance.
EFAS may help with education-related costs that families may struggle with while coping with cancer.
Conceived in 2009, Singapore Cancer Society’s Help the Children and Youth Programme (HCYP) equips children of cancer patients with tools to cope with the impact of the disease and live their lives to the fullest.
Kenji was only eight months old when his father was diagnosed with nose cancer and became unfit for work, with Kenji’s mother becoming the family’s sole breadwinner.
After reaching out to SCS, both brothers received free tuition as well as an allowance under SCS’s Education Financial Assistance Scheme. These resources allowed the brothers to focus on their studies and pursue higher learning opportunities.
For both boys, the future is bright and only just beginning.
Parents or caregivers of school-going children from families impacted by cancer may apply, subject to financial assessment and programme criteria. All applications are reviewed with care and consideration.
