2026
Launch of Joint Oncology Rehabilitation Service
We launched a Joint Oncology Rehabilitation Service between Tan Tock Seng Hospital (TTSH) and Singapore Cancer Society (SCS) on 10 February 2026. This marked SCS’s second collaboration within a tertiary hospital rehabilitation setting, reinforcing our commitment to make rehabilitation accessible to cancer patients and survivors.

Launch of the Cancer Care Coalition
On 31 January, Screen Fest 2026 marked the launch of the Cancer Care Coalition, bringing together Singapore Cancer Society (SCS), 365 Cancer Prevention Society, Ain Society and Breast Cancer Foundation (BCF) to drive more coordinated, impactful outreach for cancer awareness, prevention and early detection, and to strengthen cancer support across Singapore’s diverse communities.
2024
SCS Celebrates 60 Years of Minimising Cancer and Maximising Lives
SCS culminated our 60th Anniversary celebrations with a vibrant birthday bash at Zouk on 8 December 2024. Over 500 cancer warriors, survivors, caregivers, volunteers, and partners gathered to commemorate a landmark year of achievements, unity, and hope.

Official Opening of SCS Cancer Rehabilitation Centre @ NCIS
In September 2024, SCS, in collaboration with NCIS, launched the SCS Cancer Rehabilitation Centre @ NCIS at the NUH Medical Centre. This is our second community rehabilitation facility, complementing the first, which is co-located within the NCCS building.

Official Opening of NCCS-SCS Rehabilitation Centre
A landmark achievement in 2024 was the official opening of the NCCS-SCS Rehabilitation Centre on 1 June — the nation’s only dedicated cancer rehabilitation facility in a tertiary care setting.

Inaugural Cancer Survivors Day
SCS hosted Singapore’s first-ever Cancer Survivors Day on 1 June at the NCCS, bringing together survivors, caregivers, and families in a celebration of triumph and resilience.

Official Opening of SCS Survivorship Centre @ Woods Square
On 17 November 2023, we established the SCS Survivorship Centre @ Woods Square to serve as an oasis for cancer warriors and survivors to share common concerns and engage in enriching activities to promote psychosocial and physical well-being.

Our New Home at NCCS
March 2023 saw us move into our new headquarters at the National Cancer Centre Singapore. This move has allowed us to integrate services under one roof from screening to rehabilitation to survivorship and hospice care.
2019
Singapore Cancer Society teams up with National Cancer Centre Singapore
Singapore Cancer Society and the National Cancer Centre Singapore inked a partnership that will provide Singaporeans greater access to integrated cancer care.
2018
Singapore Cancer Society launches the SCS HPV Education and Immunisation Programme
Singapore Cancer Society (SCS) launched the SCS HPV Education and Immunisation Programme as part of its dedicated 3-year plan to tackle cervical cancer in Singapore.
2017
Inaugural Relay For Life in Singapore
Singapore Cancer Society organised the inaugural Relay for Life (RFL) in Singapore. The event brought the community together to Celebrate the lives of cancer survivors, Remember those lost to the disease and Fight Back against a disease that has taken so much.
2016
Official Opening of SCS Cancer Rehabilitation Centre
Mr Gan Kim Yong, Minister for Health, officially opens SCS Cancer Rehabilitation Centre located at level 8 Jem Office Tower. This is Singapore’s first community-based cancer rehabilitation centre, providing convenient access to integrated, person-centred and holistic rehabilitative care tailored to the specific needs of cancer patients and survivors.

Hope 50 Concert
The Hope 50 Concert capped off a year of celebrations with Prime Minister of Singapore, Mr Lee Hsien Loong, gracing the event as our Guest of Honour.

Mammogram Facility Official Opening
Dr. Amy Khor, Senior Minister of State for Health, officially opens the new mammogram facility at the SCS Multi-Service Centre. SCS provides mammograms, without charge, to Singaporeans and Permanent Residents above the age of 50 who hold a valid Health Assist card (orange or blue).
2014
Launch of 50th anniversary celebration
2014 was a milestone for the Singapore Cancer Society as we celebrated 50 years of Minimising Cancer and Maximising Life in Singapore. The journey may have begun 5 decades ago but with each succeeding generation, our mission has been passed on and carried forward in an unbroken line of service.
2013
Launch of SCS Multi-Service Centre
To bring our services into the heartlands, the SCS Multi-Service Centre began operations in Bishan at the Junction 8 Office Tower in June. The centre provides cancer screening, cancer support, and welfare services in an effort to make these more accessible to the heartlands.
2010
Inaugural Ovarian Cancer Awareness Campaign
June marked the launch of the first Ovarian Cancer Awareness Campaign, which was jointly organised by the Singapore Cancer Society, the National University Cancer Institute Singapore, the National Cancer Centre Singapore, the Singapore General Hospital and KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital.
2009
Inaugural Race Against Cancer
The inaugural Race Against Cancer (RAC) was launched. The SCS Help the Children and Youth Programme was also set up to support children and youth whose lives have been affected by cancer.
2007
Inaugural Head and Neck Cancer Awareness Week
The Society launched its first Head and Neck Cancer Awareness Week, which was held at the HDB Hub, Toa Payoh. Themed “Hope for Tomorrow – a Little Compassion Goes a Long Way,” the second Cancer Charity Show was organised to raise funds in support of the Society’s programmes and services

Inaugural Gastric Cancer Forum
The Society launched its inaugural Gastric Cancer forum, which was held jointly with National University Hospital in conjunction with the first Asia Pacific Gastric Cancer Conference
2005
Launch of SCS Cancer Treatment Fund
The SCS Cancer Treatment Fund was launched in April to help needy cancer patients with their treatment costs. The first SCS Satellite Office was set up at the National Cancer Centre, Singapore for the convenience of patients applying for assistance through this Fund.
2004
40th Anniversary & Inaugural Cancer Charity Show
The Society marked its 40th anniversary with its inaugural Cancer Charity Show to raise funds for the cancer cause as well as to promote cancer awareness in the community.
2002
Inaugural Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month
The Society launched the first Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month in March. The Society also celebrated the opening of its Cancer Screening and Education Centre in Boon Keng.
2001:
Hosted Third UICC Cancer Management Meeting
The Society hosted the third UICC Cancer Management Meeting, which was themed "Quality Cancer Care in the New Millennium."
2000
Hosted 13th Biennial Congress of the World Council of Enterostomal Therapists
The Society hosted the 13th Biennial Congress of the World Council of Enterostomal Therapists (WCET) which was themed "Enterostomal Therapy - Onto the 21st Century." The Society also organised the "Relay For Life."
1999
Threats of Tobacco on Children and Youth
The Society organised the conference on "Threats of Tobacco on Children and Youth."
1998
Nasopharyngeal Cancer
The Society organised the UICC Workshop on "Nasopharyngeal Cancer."
1994
Aid of leukemia children
The Society took over the management of the Jonathan Tan Fund, in aid of leukemia children.
1993
Fund-raising project for cancer research
The Society became the beneficiary of the annual Terry Fox Run, a fund-raising project for cancer research.
1987
The Hospice Group was launched
1984
The Helping Hands Committee was formed
The Helping Hands Committee was formed and the New Voice Club for laryngectomees and the Listener's Group, a phone-counselling service, came under its purview.
1980
The Society moved to premises at Realty Centre.
1979
The Smoking Cessation Clinics were launched.
1976
The Stoma Rehabilitation Committee was formed.
1975
The Society moved to Peace Centre
The Society moved to Peace Centre and hosted the second Asia Pacific Cancer Conference.
1972
The Reach to Recovery Programme
The Reach to Recovery Programme, a rehabilitation and support group for women who had undergone mastectomies, was established. The Cancer Research Fund was launched.
1969
The Pap Smear Screening Clinic was opened.
1967
A Welfare Committee was formed
A temporary office was set up at the Cancer Information Centre, Singapore General Hospital. A Welfare Committee was formed.
1966
International Union Against Cancer (UICC)
The Society was admitted to the global cancer organisation, International Union Against Cancer (UICC). His Excellency, Encik Yusof bin Ishak, then President of Singapore, gave consent to be its first Patron.
1965
The Society was officially registered with the Registry of Societies
The Society was officially registered with the Registry of Societies. The first education campaign, "The Eight Warning Signs of Cancer", was launched.
1964
The Singapore Cancer Society (SCS) was formed
The Singapore Cancer Society (SCS) was formed by individuals from the Rotary Club of Singapore West, the Lions Club and the Jaycees.
